How to write a resume that works in any country
A resume has one job: to get you an interview. Employers and applicant-tracking systems skim it in seconds, so structure, clarity and relevance matter more than decoration. This guide explains the international standard and how the tool helps.
Common uses
First job and internships
Lead with education, projects and internships, and keep it to one page. Quantify what you built or improved, even in college projects.
Changing careers
Open with a summary that links your past to the new role, and put the most relevant skills and projects first.
Applying abroad
Switch the region: US Letter and no photo for the USA and Canada, A4 for the UK, Europe, India and most of the world.
Experienced professionals
Keep recent roles detailed with measurable results, older roles brief, and cut anything older than 15 years.
Government and campus portals
Use the Compact ATS template, standard headings and the PDF export so the document uploads cleanly.
Quick updates
Keep your draft in the browser, edit one line, and export a new PDF in seconds.
The standard order
Contact details, a short professional summary, work experience in reverse-chronological order, education, skills, then projects, certifications and languages. This is what recruiters and ATS software expect, so the tool starts with it; you can reorder or hide sections if your story needs a different emphasis.
Contact information
Name, phone with country code, a professional e-mail, city and country, and one or two links such as LinkedIn or GitHub. Icons are added automatically. Leave out date of birth, marital status, religion and national ID unless a specific country or employer asks for them.
Experience that proves results
For each job write three to five bullets that start with an action verb and end with a result. Numbers make claims believable: percentages, amounts, team sizes, time saved.
ATS-friendly design
Applicant-tracking systems read text in order. One column, standard headings, ordinary fonts and real text (not images) are safest. Heavy graphics, tables for layout and text inside pictures can be misread.
Paper sizes
A4 (210 x 297 mm) is used almost everywhere. US Letter (8.5 x 11 in) is used in the USA and Canada, Legal for some legal forms. The page you export is sized exactly to your choice.
Privacy
You type in your browser and your draft is saved only on your device. The text is sent once to create the PDF or Word file and is not stored.
Troubleshooting
It spills onto a second page
Lower the text size a notch, shorten older roles, remove optional sections or choose the Compact template.
Characters look wrong in the PDF
The built-in PDF font covers Latin letters. For other scripts use Print / Save as PDF or the Word download.
The photo looks stretched
Use the zoom and drag controls in the photo box so the face fills the frame; the crop is 35 x 45 mm.
Available in 55 languages
The whole site - menus, buttons, guides and messages - can be switched to 55 languages, including English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Odia, Assamese, Nepali, Urdu, Arabic, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Turkish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. Use the language menu in the top bar; your choice is remembered, and the file formats and tools work exactly the same in every language.
