Converting PDF pages to JPG or PNG: choosing format, resolution and pages

Sometimes you need a PDF page as a picture - to post in a chat, put in a slide, upload to a form that rejects PDFs or edit in a photo app. This guide explains how to pick the right format and resolution.

Common uses

Upload to portals that only accept images

Many application forms want JPG or PNG; convert the page of your certificate or ID from the PDF.

Share one page in a chat

Send a single page as a picture instead of the whole document.

Presentations and websites

Place a page of a brochure or report into slides or a web page.

Editing

Open pages in a photo editor to crop, annotate or redraw.

Thumbnails and previews

Create small previews of documents for catalogues and websites.

Archiving

Store each page as a lossless PNG when you need a stable, viewer-independent copy.

JPG or PNG

JPG is compressed with small losses and keeps files light, ideal for photographs and scans. PNG is lossless, so sharp text and line art stay perfectly crisp, at a larger size.

Resolution (dpi)

A page is 8.27 x 11.69 inches (A4). At 100 dpi it becomes 827 x 1169 pixels - good for a screen; at 200 dpi it is 1654 x 2339; at 300 dpi 2481 x 3508 - suitable for printing.

Selecting pages

Type a range like 1-3,7 to convert only the pages you need. A single page downloads as one picture; several pages arrive as a ZIP.

Quality and size

If the files are too large, use JPG at 150 dpi, then shrink further with the File Size Reducer.

Limits

Up to 200 MB and 150 pages per request, with a safety cap on the pixel size of very large pages.

Privacy

The PDF is converted and deleted immediately; it is not stored or shared.

Troubleshooting

It says the PDF cannot be opened

The file may be damaged or password protected. Open it in a PDF viewer, remove the password and save a copy.

Text looks soft

Increase the dpi or choose PNG.

The ZIP is huge

Lower the dpi, choose JPG or convert fewer pages.

Tips and good to know

JPG or PNG?

JPG gives smaller files and suits photographs and scans. PNG is lossless, so text and line drawings stay perfectly sharp, but files are larger.

What dpi should I pick?

100-150 dpi is plenty for screens, chats and presentations. Use 200-300 dpi when you will print the picture or need to zoom into small text.

Why is my ZIP large?

High dpi and PNG make big pictures. Switch to JPG and 150 dpi, then use the File Size Reducer if you need an even smaller result.

My PDF has a password

Remove the password in the program that created it, or print it to a new PDF, then upload the unlocked copy.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.

Is the text still sharp?

PNG at 200-300 dpi keeps text very sharp. JPG at quality 90 is also crisp for normal reading.

Can I convert only one page?

Yes. Type the page number, for example 4, in the pages box, and you receive a single picture.

Are my PDFs kept?

No. The PDF is deleted as soon as the pictures are made, and the pictures 2 minutes after your download.
