Higher = smaller file, lower quality. 100% is the smallest result that stays usable.
  • Images: Level 100 re-encodes as JPEG/WebP at reduced quality and caps the longest side at 400px - clearly compressed but still recognizable, not garbled.
  • Audio: Level 100 re-encodes at 32 kbps - clearly lossy, fine for speech, rough for music.
Ready. Select one or more files, or a whole folder, to begin.

How to use the File Size Reducer

  1. 1Add images, audio files - or a whole folder.
  2. 2Choose 'Exact size' and type the limit from your form (for example 50 KB), or tap a quick size - or use 'Reduce by %' and move the slider.
  3. 3Press Reduce, check the result with Preview (before / after), then download each file or everything as one ZIP.

How to make photos, audio, video and PDFs smaller without ruining them

The File Size Reducer shrinks a file by a percentage you choose, so it fits an upload limit, an email attachment or a chat app. It handles images (including iPhone HEIC photos), audio, video and PDF documents, and shows a live preview for pictures so you see the real result before you download.

Common uses

Government and job application forms

Portals often demand a photo under 50 KB, a signature under 20 KB or a scanned certificate under 200 KB. Upload your picture, move the slider until the preview shows the size you need, and download.

Email attachments

Mail services refuse attachments above roughly 20 to 25 MB. Reduce a folder of photos or a scanned PDF so the whole message goes through at the first attempt.

WhatsApp, Telegram and messaging

Large videos are re-compressed hard by chat apps. Reducing them yourself first keeps more of the quality you care about and sends faster on mobile data.

Websites and blogs

Smaller images load faster, which helps visitors and search rankings. Reduce hero images and product photos before you upload them to your site.

Storage and backups

Phone photos and screen recordings pile up. Shrinking them frees space on a phone, in cloud storage or on a USB drive.

Scanned documents

Multi-page scans from a phone camera can be huge. The PDF reducer re-compresses the page images while keeping the pages, order and text.

How the slider works

A low value keeps almost all quality and gives modest savings; a high value compresses harder for the smallest file. For images the tool searches for the best quality that fits and previews it exactly. For audio and video it chooses sensible bitrates for the level you pick.

What gets reduced

Images are re-encoded and, when needed, scaled down; audio uses a lower bitrate; video uses a more efficient encoding with a lower bitrate and, for strong settings, a smaller frame size; PDFs have their embedded pictures recompressed.

When a file cannot get smaller

Some files are already as small as they sensibly go. In that case you receive the original back instead of a bigger file, so a reduction is never a step backwards.

Reducing to an exact size

For forms with a hard limit, start around 50 and adjust. Because the preview is the real output, you can stop as soon as the size reads under the limit instead of guessing.

Big files and speed

Pictures and short audio are reduced in about a second. Video takes longer because it must be re-encoded, and the progress bar shows each file separately. Up to 200 MB in total per task is accepted (one file or several together).

Privacy

No sign-up and no watermark. Files are removed automatically two minutes after your download has finished (a result nobody downloads is removed after 30 minutes).

Troubleshooting

The result is still too big

Raise the slider, or reduce the dimensions first with the Image Converter. A photo of a printed page compresses far less than a clean scan.

The picture looks blurry

Lower the slider. Text and fine detail need a gentler setting than ordinary photographs.

The portal still rejects the file

Check the exact format it wants (often JPG) and convert with the Image Converter first, then reduce.

Available in 55 languages

The whole site - menus, buttons, guides and messages - can be switched to 55 languages, including English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Odia, Assamese, Nepali, Urdu, Arabic, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Turkish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. Use the language menu in the top bar; your choice is remembered, and the file formats and tools work exactly the same in every language.

Why use TinyFileHub

  • Works on 90+ image, audio and PDF formats including HEIC photos, MP3, FLAC, WAV and M4A
  • Exact size in KB or MB: photos and signatures are saved as JPG at the best quality that fits - ideal for SSC, UPSC, IBPS, SBI, RRB, NEET, JEE, CUET and state PSC forms
  • Or one slider from 1 to 100 that controls how hard files are compressed
  • Before / after Preview of every result, so you can check it is clear and readable before you download
  • A clear warning when the size you ask for is so small that the photo or signature could become unreadable
  • Exact live preview for images - the real output, not a guess
  • If a file can't get smaller, you get the original back instead of a bigger file
  • Built for application forms: bring passport-style photos, signatures and scanned certificates under limits such as 20 KB, 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB
  • Works with phone photos (HEIC from iPhones, JPG from Android) and scans, so meeting a portal's rules takes a minute

Tips and good to know

How do I get an image under 100 KB?

Start around 60-70 and raise the slider until the preview size is under your target. Photos shrink the most; screenshots with flat colours shrink less.

Will my photo look bad?

At moderate levels the difference is hard to see. Use the side-by-side preview to find the sweet spot for your file.

How do I make a photo 20 KB or 50 KB for an exam or job form?

Choose 'Exact size', type 20 or 50 and keep KB, then press Reduce - the photo is saved as a JPG just under that size at the best quality possible. Crop it to your face and shoulders first for the sharpest result. Aim a little below the limit (for example 48 KB for 50 KB), because some portals count kilobytes slightly differently.

Will reducing to 5 KB or 10 KB still be readable?

Very small sizes remove a lot of detail. Under about 10 KB faces and signature strokes start to blur, and under 5 KB they can become unreadable - the tool warns you before you start. Use Preview to check, and use the largest size the form allows.

What about the signature or a scanned certificate?

Signatures are mostly white, so they compress very small; use a clear photo on white paper and a high slider level. For a scanned certificate, save the scan as JPG, reduce it here, and use the Image Converter's JPG to PDF option if the portal wants a PDF.

Which size and format does my form need?

Every exam body, recruiter and portal sets its own limits for photo and signature, and they change between notifications. Always follow the size, dimensions and file type given in the official notification or on the application page. TinyFileHub is an independent tool and is not connected to any exam, government or bank website.

Frequently asked questions

Is the reducer really free?

Yes - free, with no watermarks and no account needed.

Can I use it for SSC, UPSC, IBPS, RRB, NEET, JEE and other Indian exam forms?

Yes. Many online application forms ask for a photo of 20 to 50 KB, a signature of 10 to 20 KB, and documents under 100 to 500 KB. Choose 'Exact size', type the limit and the tool makes JPG, PNG and HEIC images (and PDFs) fit. Check the exact limits in the official notification, because they differ by exam and change between years.

Does it reduce the size of a signature too?

Yes. Add the signature photo or scan (JPG, PNG or HEIC), choose 'Exact size' and type the limit, for example 10 or 20 KB. Signatures are mostly white paper, so they reach small sizes while the ink stays sharp. A transparent PNG signature is placed on white and saved as JPG, as most forms require.

Are my photos and ID documents safe?

Your files are uploaded over an encrypted connection, processed automatically and returned to you. We do not store them, and we never view or share them. It is still sensible not to upload documents you do not need to.

Does it change my original file?

Never. Your original stays on your device. You download a new, smaller copy.

How long are files stored?

We do not store your files. A result is deleted 2 minutes after your download has finished - the timer starts only then. A result nobody downloads is removed after 30 minutes.
