Text tools for everyday writing, lists and checks
Small text jobs come up constantly: is this essay long enough, can I change this list to upper case, how do I remove repeated lines, what changed between two versions? These tools solve them instantly, without installing anything.
Common uses
Essays, posts and SMS limits
Check words, characters and reading time against an assignment, tweet, SEO title or SMS limit.
Clean pasted lists
Remove duplicates, blank lines and extra spaces from e-mail lists, product names and keywords.
Fix capitalisation
Convert shouting text to sentence case, make headings Title Case or create code-friendly names.
Sort and number
Sort names alphabetically, reverse a list or add numbers to lines.
Compare drafts
See exactly what was added or removed between two versions of a document.
Prepare data
Normalise text before you paste it into a spreadsheet, form or database.
Counting
Words are groups of characters separated by whitespace, which matches common word processors. Characters are counted with and without spaces, and sentences by their ending punctuation, including the Devanagari danda.
Case conversion
Title Case capitalises each word; Sentence case only the first word of each sentence; camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case are useful for programming and file names.
Cleaning lines
Operations are applied in the order you choose and can be chained: trim, remove empty lines, remove duplicates, then sort.
Comparing texts
The comparison works line by line and highlights lines present only in the original or only in the new text.
Languages
All tools work with any Unicode script, including Hindi, Tamil, Arabic and Chinese.
Privacy
Everything runs in your browser. The text is not uploaded, logged or stored.
Troubleshooting
Counts differ from another program
Programs treat hyphens, numbers and symbols differently. Small differences are normal.
The page feels slow with huge text
Very large documents (millions of characters) depend on your device; split them into parts.
The diff shows everything changed
Check for different line endings or spacing; use Clean lines to trim both texts first.
